What's in the Box?

Recently I received a great big box in the mail...

...and inside that was another box wrapped with a gorgeous red ribbon...

...and inside THAT box was a FABULOUS prize pack full of organic and fair-trade goodies!

I had won a competition over at one of my favourite sites CHILDHOOD 101.

To win you had to leave a comment about how you are helping your children to become more environmentally aware.

Here was my answer:

Our kiddos (9,8,6 and 2) learn how to sort garbage around here at a young age. They learn what goes into the ‘normal’ waste bin, what goes into recycling and then what goes into the ‘chooks’ bin for composting. They love to watch our chickens devour the recyclable things we put in there. We’ve switched to making our own spray (vinegar and water) to wipe countertops and the glass doors/mirrors and because it is so safe for them and the environment, they are able to use these sprays to help without us worrying about toxic harmful fumes. We’ve also begun to make the switch to homemade shampoo and conditioner since it is more environmentally friendly. The kids mostly shower to a timer too.
I think it is really important for our children to learn about these things from a young age! Great post

Wall Decal (Stickers) Giveaway!

If you have been to my house or read my blog before, you may have noticed that I really like removeable wall decals (stickers)!


Some are better in quality than others and we have learnt this the hard way!

Well, the latest one I've added is this cute little tea pot and cup + saucer silhouette.
I think they are a bit cute and had the place above our tea, coffee + sugar cannisters as the perfect spot picked out for them.

In this set of Removeable Wall Stickers + Blackboards stickers you get:

Blackboard stickers (that you can actually write on like a blackboard!):
1 tea pot
2 cups
2 saucers
drops of water
2 pieces of white chalk

Wall Stickers:
Cake stand

stack of 3 cups
1 saucer
9 flowers
the word 'kitchen' in blue and white polka dots

As you can see (in the first snap), so far I've only used the tea pot, cup + saucer just because they are the ones that fit in that spot so far (well to my liking anyway!) but you might use all of the stickers from your pack!

Make your own Calendar + A GIVEAWAY!

Normally, by the end of December, I've chosen a new calendar for the coming Roman-calendar year.
This year, I hadn't as yet.
I like an unusual calendar, and often I make my own.
This year I didn't have the time.
But I found this little cutie at a shop recently...


Step 1.
Open up the cute calendar with the very brightly coloured background paper

Step 2.
Print off 12 of your fave photos.
I printed off ones that conincided with the month from the year before.
So for say the month of January, I printed off a photo of the kids on Australia Day which of course is a holiday from January.
Attatch photo with double sided tape to calendar.

Step 3.
Sit back and enjoy how incredibly easy + cute this little project is.

Tonight I will sit down and go through and write down all the birthdays that I try and keep track of throughout the years and other special things that need to be noted down.

For those interested, I got the calendar from Go Lo (which for my international readers is a bargain store in Australia).
