Preparing For Yom Teruah - Feast of Trumpets 2012 WORSHIP

Thought I'd share some songs that we'llplay at our feast of trumpets. I've put the youtube clips in because they have the words. I like 'As Fas As the East is From the West' which I think Loz introduced to me years ago because it talks of God removing our transgressions from us. I love that 'The Days of Elijah' talks about Him 'riding on the clouds at the trumpet call' which is also a focus for us this feast as we see Yeshua's coming being foreshadowed in this set-apart time.

Below is a little song we made up for our Feast of Trumpets celebration. Each year we read aloud the passage from Micah 7 which says, "Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgressions of the remnant of His inheritance? You do not stay angry forever, but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us, you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl our iniquities into the depths of the sea".

We just thought it might encourage somone else out there to sing in praise to Yah!

So Feast of Trumpets is right around the corner (yay!!!) and we are gearing up for a great celebration!
The kids have made the trumpet centrepieces and I've been working on a couple of things myself; one is a little booklet which we'll give to those who come here to celebrate and the other is a song set to the words of Micah 7:18-19 (which we read each year at this appointed time). I want to share them both with you. The song I'll try my best to record (dodgy video mind you!) tomorrow but I'll share the links to the booklet tonight. I had to do two separate links but they all go in the one booklet. You fold them so they just fit into each other (landscape a4 fold). There are Scriptures to read together, a find-a-word I made and a couple of little colouring in pics for the kiddos while the verses are being read out.

Preparing for Yom Teruah {Feast of Trumpets} 2012: Making our centrepiece....Two Silver Trumpets!

Yom Teruah (Day of Blowing or The Feast of Trumpets) is one of the special feasts that God set apart for His people. The special feast days are given to us by Yah to help us remember him, to come together to celebrate and for us it has been a beautiful way of sharing our love for Him with our family and with others.

As we prepare this year, I thought it might be cool to make our own trumpets as our centrepiece. I was inspired by the Spirit of God to do this after reading the chapter in Numbers 10 about how 2 silver trumpets were used for a number of reasons. This set our theme for this year's feast which is;

Go! Gather! Battle! Celebrate!

This paints a glorious picture of what we hold to as our hope that Yeshua will return and we will those 4 keys things (go, gather, battle and celebrate) will all happen at the end of the age also!

I thought I'd share a link to THIS SITE which had some great ideas; making paper mache shofars out of toilet rolls or foil.

In the meantime, here is what we did to make our own trumpets (and they work too!)

You'll need:

* A funnel

* Some old hose or pipe

* Silver electrical tape

* Cotton and tassels to decorate (optional - ours are still plain right now)

If your hose is too small, cut a little slit in one end to open it enough for the funnel to fit on the end. Use the tape to hold it in place.

Otherwise, shape it so that the hose forms a loop and then start taping it up!

{Um...nope, it's not for sucking people's brains' out...it's for making a trumpet! lol ;) }

Catch Up Post: Day 7 of Unleavened Bread 2012

The final day of this wonderful feast!

What did we do:
We listened to 'He's the Bread of Life' song that I wrote last year and is appearing on our new album (coming soon!)
We also watched the THE MESSIAH MOVIE that we'd watched last year and was once again blessed by the reminder of some great scriptures and Hebraic pointers to Yeshua.

What we ate:

I was still eating pink grapefruit for brekky and got this heart shaped segment!

I made this super easy waldorf style salad too from the 4 Ingredients book:

Ingredients:

4 cups chopped apple
3/4 cup craisins
1/2 cup pecan nuts
1/2 cup additive free mayo

served with some roasted chicken...delish a mish!
We also had a picnic for Sarah and Amanda's 21st birthday down at the Lake which was lovely too.
What we read:

We read from John 6:52-51 and Mark 14 and the kids coloured in some sheets about the Exodus and also about Yeshua being our bread of life!

Catch Up Post: Day 6 Unleavened Bread 2012

This year, for the first time, we went to the Sydney Royal Easter Show (which is held in the 'Easter' holidays and is like a State Fair).

Our beautiful neighbour's son won a family pass and offered it to us.

We went along with Dannii and all the kids really had the time of their lives!

Watching their faces as they went on rides for the first time (like roller coasters and dodgem cars) was priceless! They got some showbags too which was a complete novelty. The bags we got had ingredients lists in them which helped us scan for things that we don't eat and we could just omit those things.

It was a HUGE day (we arrived there about 10.30am and left about 9.30pm) but the kids are STILL talking about it and loved every second of it.

As it was the feast and we still were not eating leaven, I made sure that we had our lunches and snacks with us. We had pasta boxes with sauce for lunch and fruit/nuts/vegies for snacks.

The boys bumped in to Nathan Merrit from Liji's favourite team...the Rabbitohs! Woooohooo! He was so lovely and kindly posed with them for a photo. It really made their day!

Catch Up Post: Day 5 Unleavened Bread 2012

What did we do?
Day 5 of Unleavened Bread was a fairly busy day!
We went had two big trips; one up the mountain and the other down and spent alot of the day in the car together.
We actually enjoy travelling in the car; Brett and I talk and play our 'your question' game where we ask questions of each other. We've been playing this little travelling game since before we were married and we still find it a wonderful way to connect and talk about deep stuff, silly and menial stuff too.
Zippi also had her Occupational Therapy assessment this day too.

What did we eat?
At dinner that night we enjoyed sitting around the table and we put on the Messiah You Tube vid that we also watched last year. We really love this little production.



We ate baked fish with tarte sauce and potato gems...

There's something special about sitting around the candle lit table as a family.
I think this is something that will remain with our kids for many years to come.

We read from Leviticus 23 and Numbers 28 and Matthew 26:17-30
