"And if you call the Sabbath a delight..."

Isaiah 58:13-14

“If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath

and from doing as you please on my HOLY DAY,

if you call the Sabbath a DELIGHT

and YHVH's (the LORD’s) holy day HONORABLE,

and if you HONOR it by not going your own way

and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,

then you will find your JOY in YHVH (the LORD),

and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land

and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.”

For the mouth of YHVH (the LORD) has spoken".

I love this passage about Shabbat (sabbath).
This portion of scripture comes right after Yah (God) tells His people what is actually pleasing to Him...And it is ALL in keeping with the Torah! Looking after the oppressed, the alien and the widows, loosing the chains of injustice, doing away with malicious talking and finger pointing, helping the hungry and letting your light shine before all men - these are ALL mentioned within the Torah!
Then He goes on to talk about the Sabbath and how it should be called a DELIGHT to the people!

So, as most of you know, we are learning to call a delight what He calls a delight and learning to uphold that which He has declared has and always will be important to Him!

Here's how we spent last Shabbat (a couple of the photos are also from extended fellowship the next day!) We had such a lovely time! We were joined by Jono and Christine and their lovely munchkins along with Heiko and Lori, Donna and Keiran and their lovely girls, our mates the Leonard's and Ben and Jas.
It was a full house!
Here are some snaps...

More sharing in the Word together...

Last Shabbat we had a full house here while this week it is just us!

Today Brett slept in and then I went back to bed after he got up to rest my body a little more!
The kids have been playing marbles indoors (it is raining today) and together we read through Psalm 22 and prayed together.

On Shabbat we enjoy special meals together, the kids might do quiet activities like puzzles or lego and  we just enjoy all being together in God's presence.

Some weeks we just make do with whatever we have in the fridge/fruit stand but most weeks I try and do something a little special for our Sabbath day since it is our most special set-apart day in the week.
Here's some of what I cooked ahead for today...

Tomato + Spinach + Cheese + 'No-Bacon' (vegetable rashers) frittata for lunch...

Caramel + Coconut Crunch Slice...

Apple + Berry Muffins...

For dinner...sweet and sour chicken with rice...

It's just so refreshing and wonderful to enjoy a day of time-out as a family!
A day to renew and restore.
A day for rest, prayer, study in the Word as a family :)
Many blessings in the name of Yehovah!
Love Lusi x

I was wondering if Brett was going to start growing a beard. He looks great with (sort of almost?) one. :)

Ahh, Friday afternoons and Saturdays are our busiest days around here. Love seeing pics of your restful days. :)

Hi my lovely Sumi!
He is a little...he's liking it at the moment (although I don't think he'll do the full beard). Just for the record, it's not a torah command to grow one, it just says that if you do, don't rip it out in mourning like those in the nations surrounding Israel did. Just in case anyone was wondering if he was doing it because he 'had' to.
Fri and Sat used to be our busiest days too; maybe that's why I appreciate the Sabbath even more now.
How are you anyway love? Let's catch up soon! Maybe a picnic down your way? Let me know when is good. Love you!

And hi Enid! I will try and post that frittata recipe very soon! Love to you!

I admit I was thinking it was a command, so that's interesting to hear. :)

Yes! Maybe we should do a Sunday in the next couple of weeks? I've also been thinking of coming up for a visit with T sometime on a weekday? I'll call you or something soon.
