The week that was + Sabbath...

Here are some of the things we've been up to this week so far...

rolling our own fresh oats + having porridge each morning for brekky together...

daddy dancing to 'I will dance with Cinderella while she is still in my arms' with his two little princesses...

some beautiful flowers mum gave me earlier in the week, all wrapped up and beautiful, after she + dad stayed the night. we had a lovely time as always hanging out, having a Fijian lesson + just loving being together...

Zippi toddling around the house. She is growing SO quickly + is saying SO much ALL the time now! It's a joy + blessing to witness. She's also getting VERY upset VERY quickly when she doesn't get what she wants now. How quickly THAT happens too hey! This is all part of the joy though; the sowing in now, the training + encouragement + the journeying through together as a family.
What a job!!! I WOULDN'T swap it for all the world!

brett, dad  + the boys put together the bbq + we had a lovely celebration dinner that night for no reason in particular :) ...

Stass wanted to make dessert one night + so 'designed' this one; pears + marshmallows + a homemade brownie! Master chef eat your heart out!

the kids used the painted arrows (that they painted the previous week) to begin our framed art for a verse from Isaiah that is going to be hung in the boys' bedroom. the arrows are chipboard pieces by the company Buzz and Bloom that I used to design for. They are sweet little chippies!

These sticker-foam-artworks came in a kit and the kids mostly worked on them last year. I had some of them hanging up but they were in a place now accessible by little Zippstar's fingers. She'd pulled alot of the foam off. So we took them down this week, found the rest of them (which i'd been storing away for some bizarre reason) and finished them all off. Now they are just waiting to be framed and then rehung.

They have numbers on each picture and each number stands for a colour. The kids find that colour and pop it over the corresponding number. There are 5 altogether i think + they look really great.

Brett's been busy getting a couple of greenhouses + organising them. They are great!

Lemon leaf tea (literally) + some hot anzac cookies made using fresh oats.
Mmmm num num!

Stass really enjoyed watching a couple of eps of the Duggar family '19 kids and counting' this week for the first time. And Donna kindly leant us the book so we've been flicking through that + discussing it. Inspiring :)

More fires...

The new + improved computer/photo printing/letter writing station.
Seems to be working well.
In the baskets; socks, winter hats/gloves/etc, potatoes + onions down the bottom + summer hats that we still use in the winter.

We are really enjoying taking our Sabbath rest together each week. I once thought there was no way you could have grace + Torah (law) together. But you can! My heart is to echo what the Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 3:28
"For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law"...and then in verse 31 he says, "Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law".

We are NOT justified by the law but we uphold it. We are not saved by the law  - NO WAY! We are saved by grace through faith and THIS is NOT even from ourselves - it is a gift from God not by works so that no one can boast (Ephesians 2:8).

I lOVE what Jesus said about the law...
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. (The Hebrew word for fulfill here means to illuminate!) I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
Matthew 5:17-18

So taking our Sabbath Rest on a Saturday has been a great blessing. I love that God also built in Preparation Day (the day before which is Friday for us) to get ready for it. I love to do a little extra baking + cooking + cleaning on Friday. And then come dusk Friday night, it is time to rest!
Resting in Jesus! So lovely!
Usually on a Friday night we light some candles on the table + Brett usually prays for us + thanks God for our Sabbath rest. He prays that God will teach us how to rest in Him and that we might be drawn closer to Him too.
Other things we might do on Sabbath include...
having a hot brekky together, physically resting + studying in the Word, being in God's creation, singing, praying, maybe reading a Christian book or watch a teaching dvd, the kids sometimes colour in some bible worksheets. We enjoy eating yummy food, maybe playing a quiet game together, we enjoy sitting around the fire. Whatever we are doing (even helping someone move house or something else that someone might consider 'work' when God leads us to do it) we are wanting to be mindful of God + allowing ourselves to rest in the Lord of the Sabbath!

To us, Sabbath = delighting in Him + rest.

Well, that'll do for now. I have to go tackle some jobs off the good ol' to do list!

5 things I am thankful for today:

1. Being a work-in-progress that God is changing + teaching.
2. Our little fondue set
3. Sabbath resting
4. Fresh oats on a cold winter morning
5. Our parents + in-laws on both sides.

Please pray for a friend of ours who is undergoing radiotherapy. She is a dear sister in Christ + we love her very much. Please pray for her family too at this time.
Thanks xox

More another time + in the meantime, may His awesome grace + joy + peace be yours!!!

Your pictures are just lovely. I'm sorry that it has taken me so long to return your visit. I often find myself struggling to even get my blogging done :)
